Walk the walk

A strange image woke me this morning. It was all about talk and reason and how sometimes we just talk...talk...talk...maybe to hide what our heart is saying. I believe the intellect might just be one of the strongest defense mechanisms we have. If you say something enough, maybe you can convince yourself that it's real...But the heart knows better and it is the heart that so often move me to the path I need to follow.

Thank you...I have enough

We have a funny story here in the village that evolves around the discussion of "What is a Virtue" Sitting around the table we were trying to remember the deadly sins and the virtues. You can read more about that over at http://justmustard.blogspot.com/2011/01/whats-it-to-ya.html. But it brings to mind my Saint of the day, Saint Enouphis.

Marymorphosis - Our Lady of Perpetual Change

January is usually the month most committed to making changes.  It is as if December 31 is a cut off date to which much is considered and surrendered for release.  But change is a process...a daily grind of commitment and choice, of cheating and hedging, bargaining and acknowledging weakness or applauding and celebrating strength. Change occurs wether we are active or passive, it is inevitable; and as natural as night giving way to morning.  Be not afraid, trust your instincts, and use the compass of the heart.

Intercession
Marymorphosis
Dear Lady of Perpetual Change
Help me to make the changes necessary to live as I am called by my heart.
The courage to start
and the renewed courage to start all over again.
Provide me with wisdom to know that which is hidden from me;
by fear, by anxiety, by denial, by trust misplaced.
Help me to change just one small thing today and another tomorrow…
Until my days are filled with
The magic of transformation
Amen Sister.

Oh when the Saints....

Oh...the Book of Lurlene...it has been a challenge to muster enough wisdom to write these days. And so...I had to turn to the Saints. I do hope you don't find my curious ones in the least offensive. If so...Perhaps Saint MisCHevis might help you.

Patron Saint of fiction writers, editors, cheerleaders and coyotes.  Known to fill empty bowls and snatch bacon.   Often seen in the company of fibbers and those who purchase items that say..."Slims you"

Saint MisCHevis hear our prayer.

Heavenly ones who know the truth about all things...allow us to stretch our imagings as well as our presumptions so that we might experience that which is wry, that which is harmless, that which brings a smile, that which lightens a spirit, and that which may not be.
Amen

Why am I the only one arguing...Damnit!

The other night I caught myself "fussin'" because Mr. C wanted the shades down and I wanted them up. Why? "Because it's Christmas!"
We reached what I thought was a compromise, they were down...but open. A few minutes later he asked again,"Can we close the blinds". I tried to explain to him that we had a compromise and left to do something in the kitchen. A few moments later I heard a crash and knew the window candles had taken a spill...the way they do when the blinds are closed. I took a deep breath and was about to say (in my huffy voice),
"We had a deal", when I realized that the only one capable of stirring up a big ole bowl of havoc...was me.
And so it goes. During the "Season" there will be times when you just gotta pass. (Even when you thought you had a deal)
Love you all!

Out of stock...unavailable

It has been a week of general "repairs".   They don't make stuff like they used to.  My mom's 1959 Frigidaire has only been moved to the back porch..still hummin' along.  Two "new" refrigerators have come and gone in that time, each lasting about ten years.   That's about the life of things made these days.  But here's the line I love..."they don't make parts for this one no more".   Made me think about gettin' older, I guess one day some young doctor is gonna take a look at me and say...They just don't make parts to fix what's wrong with you!

Perfect

I often feel that a prayer needs to be perfect in word and precise in meaning.
Crafted so that there can be no mistake in my heartfelt request.

That being said,  I have often found myself stiffened and my words measured…choking the natural out of the process.

I seem to do that in many areas of my life, judging and hesitating, when all that is needed is the gentle reminder that prayer is a mosaic of heart and soul

The utterance need not make perfect sense for the intention already does.
